An evening with Jimmy Cricket

On Thursday evening of October 7th 2010 a most enjoyable evening was spent in the church hall in the presence of Jimmy Cricket the well known Catholic comedian. The proceeds of the evening were to be donated to Francis House Children's Hospice in Didsbury, South Manchester.

Jimmy Cricket's son is currently studying for the priesthood at Ushaw College  near Durham in Northumberland.

Jimmy amused the assembled audience of some 70 parishioners for over 2 hours with his unique brand of zany humour and Irish logic! together with his well known catch phrases - "come 'ere" and "...and there's more."

The church hall reverberated with the sound of laughter that was even louder than

the sound of aircraft passing overhead!

His act was ably supported by his wife Amy who sang a number of popular hit songs. The audience were also astounded to witness the entry of the ghost of Elvis Presley (no picture unfortunately, him being a ghost of course!) who proceeded to sing a number of his well known chart toppers.

Parishioners brought along their own refreshments and drinks to enjoy along with the humour - guaranteed to  help the digestion!

There was an opportunity to by a Jimmy Cricket DVD - 'Pull your seats forward' - 50% of the purchase price being donated to Francis House.

As always at these fund raising events a Raffle was held at the end of the evening and the total amount raised for Francis House amounted to the magnificent sum of 884.0  - Tickets, Raffle and DVD's.

A wonderful evenings entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. A vote of thanks is earned by the organisers.
