Catholics around the world are encouraged to take up Pope Francis' initiative and put pressure on governments to 'Share the Journey' with Migrants and Refugees.
CAFOD has taken up this initiative and launched a Global Campaign entitled 'Share the Journey' and a prepared a petition to the Prime Minister urging her to ensure that Britain's concern for migrants and refugees is at the heart of the two 'Global Compacts' to be signed by world leaders in September 2018.
Parishes around the world are being encouraged to undertake walks in support of these compacts and initiatives, with the objective of achieving a collective target of 24,900 miles, the distance around the world.
Our parish organised such a walk for Saturday June 16th 2018 when seven hardy parishioners set out to walk on a miserable morning from the church to Bruntwood Park and back. In so doing achieving a total of twenty-one miles. The journey was broken by taking a coffee break at the Vinery Restaurant in the park.
A small but brave attempt to reach the target!!
